So I read chapters five and six in "The Last Unicorn" today for the Trotsdale library members interested in hearing it. Today we went through Schmendrick's adventure conjuring Robin Hood for Captain Cully's men (and the um...songs....for that chapter) and his adventure with the tree. We made it all the way through to where they were getting ready to enter Hagsgate.

One of the listeners commented on how much of the book got left out of the animated feature. Oh yes, just like the Hobbit a great deal was left out of the animated version of "The Last Unicorn." It is nice to get to spend an hour every week rediscovering the stuff in the book that wasn't in that. I personally enjoy the book much more than the animation, and the animation is one of my favorites. I especially love how the book in part tackles the question of what is real and what isn't.

I identify with both Molly Grue and Schmendrick.

Today was a bit of a challenge for me as even though the time was prearranged and everyone on my end knows when to leave well enough alone and be either in or out...in and out and even phonecalls saying they were on the way back came in. -_- I am not pleased, and do not want to have to prerecord. I rather like being able to do it live. Especially when it comes to the singing bits because those songs are all intended to sound a bit off kilter because it's supposed to be "normal people" singing.

Anyone that wants to hear me read and has an SL account is welcome to join us Mondays from 6 to 7 Pacific Time (AKA SLT) in the Trotsdale Library.

I also suggest joining the library group for notices when the other readers read.
