This is a very belated video, but this allowed me to not only do the unboxing (yes in my favorite pajama top, it was cold and that was handy) and then my impressions after using it several weeks (now roasting and not needing flannels) of the Pro-Draw Grip designed by illustrator and Youtuber BeeJayDel.

The link below takes you to where it can be purchased on Amazon for cheaper than what I paid for it earlier.

Forgive the slowness in my work. I can't even sit up long without the twinging, tingling, and burning in both legs. Things are changing in my spine and I'm having to readapt myself.

Leave those sleeves alone, I fixed them after it registered the edges were more worn than I realized. It's a favorite one. It's comfy and not scratchy.

I need to make some catchup art posts, most Mermay related.

There are other mushroom pieces I will do for a sheet of mushroom stickers. I don't expect I can afford a booth at the local Mushroom Festival this year or get items produced in time for this year. I am focusing on being able to afford my yearly booth at the Lumberjack Fiesta in McCloud and need to double-check how much I owe for this year's calendar ad (only one of the two ladies involved in calendar expenses has contacted me so far). However, perhaps the sheet as well as Lumberjack-related sticker art will both be ready and printed by that time.

The first one played around with in this video is inspirited by the Blue Oyster mushroom. The second is taking extreme liberty with the Inky Cap mushroom.

These are done in Procreate on an iPad (9th generation) using an iPencil (1st). The first one used mainly the studio ink brush in the inking. The second focused on using the waterbrush from the calligraphy set.

Before anyone asks why so much more time was spent on the first it is because I became dissatisfied with the colors. And style. And picky.

She walked out on stage; the heat of the lamps beaded sweat beneath her feathers and made the tiny dress she wore still too much. Elizabeth, named so in honor of the woman who sewed the first iteration of the flag that would forever be associated with her family line, attempted to survey the gathered throng with their upraised arms. She knew they were there but those cursed and blessed lights partially blinded her, a screen between herself and them. The flash of cameras cut through, sparkling stars in the sea. Elizabeth knew that in the White House her sister, representing their many times great grandparents as the mascot of their country, watched this concert at the side of their President.

They all chanted her name, frenzied throngs reaching and pleaded. Was it for Freedom, though? Or was it for more confirmation and stroking of their egos? Each group wanted to be acknowledged. Each wanted their views heard, represented, upheld, and lived by. Elizabeth could only sing to the common desires. As long as she did so though for a time each group would work together instead of working to tear out each other’s throats and let their great land die.

She was no hero, not like Lady Liberty had told her the day Elizabeth had discovered the strange circlet that day so long ago. Back then she had been just another unheeded voice in the throng and her concerts and speeches made to empty rooms and cabarets where she was an ignored backdrop. Some of those times she hadn’t been ignored though, instead spat on and beaten for being “too liberal” or “too conservative” or even “socialist” for the messages of her songs.

Elizabeth wished Liberty were here with her now, or that she could fly back to the statue and perch inside her crown, or on the torch. What a pity it was that she had never been the literal lighthouse she’d been designed to be.

“But I am with you, Child. Just as I am with your sister, and each being that fights in their own way for Freedom, Equality, Peace, Justice, and Honor. Sing out the Truth to them. Bring Light to these Hearts lost in the Dark Storms. Show them the shore.” The voice flowed through her mind, the circlet on her brow heating and glowing.

The copper stylized torches, also stylized music notes began to flame. Her feathers did not burn. She never singed. In answer the enchanted jewel microphone in her left wing hand flashed and sparked in answer. Soothed, emboldened, Elizabeth stroked the inverted and stylized flame on her hips. Spreading her right wing and splaying the fingers dramatically she signaled the band she was ready.

Elizabeth opened with the National Anthem. It always worked. They would be more open to the words of Equality that would follow. If she persevered perhaps one day the wings of this great nation would be somewhat in tandem.

The long awaited second volume in the Mythical Minstrelsy anthologies is now available on Smashwords. I have not yet gotten the Amazon Kindle version set up and uploaded yet, nor the print. Volume three I hope to have ready to push later this year after I get the cover ready. Long term Patreon Patrons will be sent the appropriate years in ecopies for their support.

Maria Lightwatch, a three tailed kitsune character of mine is the mascot and "official tale teller" for this series. Each book is a collection of that year's art, stories, meditations, and poetry, not including installations of the Selkies' Skins series or illustrations done for children's books. Each year's anthology will therefore be of varying lengths but will mostly tie in with mythology or folklore in some fashion.

I need to figure out which pieces from my deviantart gallery to get printed as posters and how many to stock as I gather things for the booth while finalizing what I know I will have energy to do. I do not expect as much help as I had two years ago and probably about the same amount as last year. HOPEFULLY I will make all three days of Fiesta and have a working vehicle. I have not yet filled the paperwork.

This week's update for "Selkies' Skin: Temple and Skinquest" is going to be a little late. I did not get the immersion and uninterrupted writing time I needed. Instead, have this colored version of a picture of Kirsty and David set sometime after the current book.

As to why it's been late I have had some work come up, various errands and surprise errands, and a big rather important project that once it is done I can show pictures of.

Tiptoe by Kit O'Connor

I got this book in exchange for an honest review. When I got it I had not seen the tiny blurb mentioning infidelity and insanity. I wish I had. The book was well written story wise, even with the jumping between characters. I normally enjoy that sort of book, but it took me a bit to understand how the characters were connected. I was expecting a story about a boy becoming a knight and defeating his dragon. It's not quite what I got and it seems the dragon was a completely different kind than the sort we started out with. On one hand I'm applauding this and on the other I'm going "not quite for me." However it might be for you. I had to push through the first third or so, but then it started to make more sense to me. Also as I have avoided drug culture that might have put a damper on my understanding. However that also may have been the effect the author was going for as I was indeed finding myself in a very alien (to me) world.

I might look for more by this person later, but it isn't high on my priority list.

Here, have a Kirsty picture. Back to some selkie related material.
