Wow... Its so... big...
May. 26th, 2013 05:10 pm Currently the main file for Selkies' Skins (Chapters 1-25) is sitting at 69,839 words. Chapter 26 brings it to 70,203 before even considering the other partial chapters that are waiting to be fleshed out and polished up for inclusion once I get to their places. It may end up going over 100,000 words after all, which is what Smashwords considers to be epic-length.
This is for book one mind you. The story that I thought would be just one book is very likely going to go on, considering I already know what happens after Kirsty gets her sealskin. She does have that matter of Marsali's (long decomposed now) sealskin hanging over the family, Mara's mental instability and the cure, and The Lady's missing name to provide possible extensions.
Kirsty's skin and Etain's trip home will stay in book one. That's where I committed to their being, so I will abide by it even if it means it's as long as Shogun, Noble House, or The Stand.
Can you TELL I grew up reading gigantic tomes?
